Pomus (which derives its name from the Ancient Greek word 'pōmus' meaning fruit tree), is a neighbourhood restaurant, wine bar, bottle shop & pantry supply store situated in The Centre, Margate and run by entrepreneur and hospitality expert Ryan Jacovides and MasterChef finalist and restauranteur Tony Rodd.
Taking inspiration from Kent's bountiful natural larder, a low-waste and inclusive menu will be showcased alongside some award-winning wines. Utilising many local producers such as Whitstable Oysters, Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Chapel Down and Westwell, Pomus is a home away from home for Kent locals and tourists alike

A champion for the industry, Ryan Jacovides started his hospitality journey collecting glasses in a local pub and spending his rebellious youth bunking off school to visit Margate.
Fast forward and Ryan has years of experience under his belt, having been group MD at Jamie Oliver Group, working with White Rabbit Projects and Megan's, as well as being the founding partner of Bristol-based Pasture Restaurant Group and consulting for F1 Arcade. "My family & I have been holding in Margate for many generations and even back then I said I'd open a bar here. Having now lived in Margate for a while, the time feels right to live out a long standing dream." |
Tony Rodd grew up in London and Essex and learned to cook in the kitchens of his Greek-Cypriot mother and grandmother. Recognisable as the man behind MasterChef's most impressive moustache, he made it to the finals in 2015, then opened his own restaurant in London in 2018 which ran for 5 years.
Following the London closure, Tony reloacted to Thanet and is now heading up the kitchen at Pomus where he will be showcasing his signature eclectic, flavoursome dishes alongside his life-long passion for provenance and pasture and his love of both food and wine. |
